Toronto Café Passport Checklist

A few years ago, I bought myself a copy of the Toronto Café Passport. At the beginning of 2026, I decided to start using it to try out new coffeehouses around the city. I write about it in this blog post. Below is a list of the cafés I’ve visited so far, and some brief reviews.

Midtown

  • De Mello (2489 Yonge Street) – Visited January 2026. Ordered an Iced Oat Latte. Slightly proportionally too much milk, but otherwise quite good.

East End

  • Lazy Daisy’s Café (1515 Gerrard Street East) – Visited February 2026. This is more of a brunch spot than a coffeehouse. I ordered brunch and a drip black coffee. Really underwhelming- the coffee was tasteless and the brunch plate (“Standard Brekkie”) consisted of two slices of toast, two eggs, half of a slice of cantaloupe and a mountain of home fries.

Kensington Market

  • FIKA Café (28 Kensington Ave)- Visited February 2026, but have been a number of times in the past. FIKA has always been one of my favourite cafés in the city- super cute and cozy. I ordered an iced oat latte and a signature ginger cookie shaped like a dala horse (the café’s logo).

  • Augusta Coffee House (229 Augusta Avenue)- Visited February 2026. Ordered an iced oat latte- found the milk : coffee ration was off; the drinks weren’t very strong. Sleek, modern interior and very spacious- seems like a good place to do work.

West End

  • Forget Me Not Coffee (102 Ossington Ave) – Visited February 2026. Ordered an Iced Matcha Latte- not the best: proportionally too much milk, making it slightly tasteless. This said- very cute interior with lots of seating; it was decorated with handmade paper streamers for Valentine’s day. I also understand that the café hosts a lot of community events, which I appreciate. I’d go back and try a different drink!
  • Three Dots Coffee Lab (865 College St) – Visited February 2026. This wasn’t in the Passport (it opened after the Passport was published) but I wanted to include it on the list because I loved it. It has a modern, sleek interior and many experimental drinks on the menu which looked phenomenal. I ended up ordering an iced oat latte and it was one of the best I’ve ever had- but I would go back anytime to try out something else.
